he fantasy series is based on the novels of Robert Jordan , and can count on Rosamund Pike as the protagonist and executive producer. The rest of the cast includes Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris, Madeleine Madden, Sophie Okonedo, Daniel Henney, Michael McElhatton, Álvaro Morte and Hammed Animashaun . The story is set in a fantasy world where magic exists, but only some women can use it. Moiraine ( Pike ) is part of a very powerful women’s organization, the Aes Sedai , and she will lead a group of heroes on a long journey. Among them may be the Dragon Reborn, destined to destroy or save the world.
The first three episodes of the first season will be released on November 19 , while the others will be available every Friday, until December 24 . You can see the poster below.
The synopsis
The Wheel of Time is one of the most popular and enduring fantasy series of all time, with over 90 million books sold. Set in an epic, sprawling world where magic exists and only a few women can use it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of an incredibly powerful all-female organization called Aes Sedai, upon her arrival in Two Rivers. There begins a dangerous journey around the world together with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, destined to save or destroy humanity.
Production
Based on Robert Jordan’s fantasy best-sellers, The Wheel of Time was adapted for television by executive producer / showrunner Rafe Judkins. Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of iwot productions, Mike Weber and Ted Field of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe and Uta Briesewitz will also be executive producers here, with Briesewitz directing the first two episodes. Rosamund Pike is the producer and Harriet McDougal with Brandon Sanderson are the consulting producers. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
