The organization of the IFA in Berlin confirmed the dates of the 2022 edition of the German technology fair and on a full scale.
Unlike CES and MWC , IFA Berlin hasn’t had much luck holding an event during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the cancellation of the event in 2020 and 2021 due to variant safety, the organization of the European technology fair is ready to return to full scale in September 2022.
According to Jens Heithecker, Executive Vice President of Messe Berlin Group IFA, “It is finally time to interact, connect and co-innovate, to meet people face to face, not as a flat image on the screen”.
The traditional European summer technology event will take place at its traditional headquarters in the Messe Berlin from September 2 to 6 , and promises news in 5G, AI, computing, home appliances, electric cars and other areas of innovation.
IFA 2022 full scale
Although there are no details about this “full scale” event, Heithecker has highlighted that 15 of the 20 most important companies with a presence at IFA have confirmed participation.
“Unlike other trade shows, which were at half capacity or more or less… IFA 2022 will give you your first opportunity to experience a real, global technology fair,” he said.
The organization remains enthusiastic about having the possibility of reversing the adverse situation, after the cancellation of two editions during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Based on current assessments and predictions of the global situation, IFA 2022 has the potential to be the first truly global trade show for the CE – consumer electronics – industry since the start of the pandemic, offering industry, retail and extremely high visibility and relevance”, adds Martin Ecknig, CEO of Messe Berlin. “The industry has a strong desire to return to an in-person event, and we are committed to making it happen in Berlin this September safely and successfully.”
