CES 2022 , the world’s largest technology fair, also has its space division in Las Vegas. Sierra Space also wants to launch collapsible stations in low orbit.
The Sierra Space company has unveiled a space plane that has turned heads at the world’s largest technology fair, CES 2022.
Sierra Space , subsidiary of Sierra Nevada, took a model of his ship called “Dream Chaser” (persecutor of dreams) to Las Vegas to show journalists what they have called the “future” of flights .
A dreamer in the middle of space
While the rest of the companies show robots, autonomous cars and virtual reality helmets , Sierra Space details what the Dream Chaser project will be like .
The cargo version of the ship will launch this year, alongside a United Launch Alliance Vulcan rocket.
Dream Chaser is designed to deliver up to 5500 kilograms of pressurized and non-pressurized cargo and can return 1800 kilograms of cargo with a soft landing on the runway.
However, Sierra Space doesn’t just cater to astronauts, it envisions scientists, filmmakers, and even tourists living in space modules called LIFE.
LIFE will travel to the folded space inside a launch vehicle and then expand to three full floors, enough living space to accommodate four people. The commercial space station will be deployed between 2025 and 2030, and the entire station will serve multiple purposes.
Sierra Nevada signed an agreement with NASA for unmanned flights to the international space station, which should begin in 2022, and collaborates with the company Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos, co-founder of the online commerce giant Amazon.
