In the last few hours, some rumors have started to circulate insistently on the web.

Rumors regarding Harrison Ford ‘s possible involvement in Thunderbolts , the Marvel Studios film recently unveiled at D23 Expo .
But what is it specifically about?

Thunderbolts, William Hurt, Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones

To clarify what’s going on, we need to start with William Hurt ‘s death . During his career the actor, who passed away last March at the age of 71 , had played General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in The Incredible Hulk , a 2008 Marvel film directed by Louis Leterrier . A fundamental figure for the genesis of the Thunderbolt , as his nickname suggests.
This suggests the presence of the character in the film dedicated to the Marvel anti-hero group .

With William Hurt gone , though, a new actor needs to be brought in for the role, and that’s where Harrison Ford comes in .
As revealed by Jeff Sneider , a usually reliable source regarding rumors of this type, Harrison Ford would have been chosen by Marvel Studios for the role of Thaddeus E. Ross . Has an agreement already been made? This is unclear, but as reported by Sneider:

There was an agreement and it had to be announced during the D23 Expo.

As we know, during D23 the cast of the film was announced, without Harrison Ford . Also according to Sneider, behind this choice there would be the categorical prohibition of Kathleen Kennedy , determined to keep all the attention on Indiana Jones 5 , always presented during the Disney event .

Kathleen Kennedy said, “No, all the focus will be on India Jones 5. I don’t want this event to be remembered for Harrison Ford’s involvement in the Marvel Universe.”

We reiterate that these are rumors, so take them as such pending any confirmation. Or a denial, of course.

What do we know at the time of Thunderbolts ? The team that we will see in the film will be composed of:

  • Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Val
  • David Harbor as Red Guardian
  • Wyatt Russell as John Walker
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost
  • Florence Pugh in the role of Yelena
  • Olga Kurylenko in the role of Taskmaster
  • Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes

The plot of the film “will revolve around a group of villains who are sent on missions for the government.” Behind the camera we will find Jake Schreier , he is a director with many experiences in music videos, having collaborated with Francis and the Lights, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Haim, Baby Keem and Kanye West . He has directed two films: the delightful intimate sci-fi Robot & Frank , and the adaptation of John Green’s novel City of Paper . He has also worked in several TV series, such as I’m Dying Up Here, Lodge 49, Al nuovo gusto di cherry and Kidding . Apparently presenting him for the Thunderbolts movieimpressed Marvel executives tremendously in recent weeks, getting him the project.

The Thunderbolts

Created by Kurt Busiek (story) and Mark Bagley (art) in 1997, the Thunderbolts are a group of supervillains reunited by Zemo after the disappearance of the Avengers , Fantastic 4 and other heroes, apparently perished in the final battle with Onslaught . Hiding their true identities behind the masks of new superheroes, the team members fill the void left by the Avengers , but in reality Zemo – who takes on the alter ego of Citizen V – plans to enter the good graces of public opinion and SHIELD .to achieve criminal goals. Over the years, the group has experienced several incarnations, some more heroic and others darker. The Winter Soldier himself led a version of the team.
