These are John Hawkes ( Deadwood, Winter’s Bone ), Christopher Eccleston ( The Leftovers ), Fiona Shaw ( Killing Eve ), Finn Bennett ( Domina ) and Anna Lambe ( Three Pines ).
In particular:

  • John Hawkes will play Hank Prior, a police officer who hides old grudges under a quiet temper.
  • Christopher Eccleston will play Ted Corsaro, the regional police chief. A political animal with a long history that binds him to Liz Danvers (Foster).
  • Fiona Shaw will be Rose Aguineau, a survivor who hides many secrets
  • Finn Bennett will play Peter Prior, Liz Danvers’ pupil and apprentice.
  • Anna Lambe will play Kayla Malee, a young nurse who has little patience for anyone who has problems with her family.

Issa López ( Tigers Are Not Afraid ) and Alan Page Arriaga ( Shining Girls ) wrote the screenplay for the series; López will direct the pilot episode and will also be executive producer.

The plot of True Detective: Night Country

When the long winter night falls on Ennis, Alaska, the six men who run the Tsalal Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) must face the darkness within them, and delve into the disturbing truths buried under the eternal ice.

López and Foster will executive produce alongside Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak . Plus Anonymous Content, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga and Nic Pizzolatto , creator of the original series. The new season will be shot in Iceland.
