More than two and a half years have passed since the release of Undone , and the second season is finally coming: Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer at WonderCon in Anaheim.

Alma ( Rosa Salazar ) continues to travel through time and space to investigate the death of her father ( Bob Odenkirk ) and the secrets of his family. This time, however, she is joined by her sister Becca ( Angelique Cabral ), who can access the memories of other people: thanks to this gift they will visit the memory of their grandmother, finding themselves in front of an impenetrable door that could hide the answers they seek.

Designed by Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg (the same as the beautiful Bojack Horseman ), Undone is made entirely in rotoscoping: an animation technique that has existed for more than a century, but is rarely used for long-lasting projects. Direction is handled by Hisko Hulsing .

You can see the trailer below, but first I remind you that the second season of Undone will arrive on April 29 on the online platform.

The synopsis

Alma Winograd-Diaz (Rosa Salazar, Alita: Battle Angel ) lives a quiet life until a near-fatal accident causes her to have visions of her late father, Jacob. Through these persistent visions of her, her father makes her discover a mysterious ability that allows her to travel through space and time with the hope of avoiding her premature death. This situation strains Alma’s relationships and those closest to her begin to question her sanity.

Rotoscoping is a technique that consists in tracing in pencil the previously filmed scenes (with real actors and environments), so that the animation is very realistic and full of expressive details. There are few films made entirely with this technique: the Lord of the Rings by Ralph Bakshi and two feature films by Richard Linklater, Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly , are particularly remembered . Rotoscoping was conceived by the great Max Fleischer in 1915, for his famous short Out of the Inkwell .

The cast

Undone ‘s cast includes Rosa Salazar , Bob Odenkirk , Angelique Cabral , Constance Marie, Siddarth Dhananjay, Daveed Diggs, John Corbett, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Sheila Vand and Tyler Posey .
