RPP spoke with Nakbo Sung , the current president of Samsung Peru within the framework of his new BeSpoke catalog at the local level.
Samsung is a brand with a huge impact on different levels of products. From chips and storage to trucks, including appliances and connectivity, the South Korean company has capitalized on its reputation and good practices in every aspect it addresses, and Peru is no exception. Within the framework of the presentation of “BESPOKE”, the new customizable line of technological devices, RPP spoke with Nakbo Sung , the current president of Samsung Peru, to learn about the company’s moment at the local level and understand its vision in an increasingly ever more complex.
RPP: Mr. Sung, let’s talk about Samsung’s growth in the first half of the year. Could you give me a summary of how the brand has performed in 2023?
Nakbo Sung (NS): Yes, compared to last year, the global economy has been impacted by globalization. This has also affected the Peruvian economy. However, we have managed to maintain our business compared to last year. In fact, some product categories are beginning to recover, compared to last year. We expect growth in the second half of the year. We have a very positive vision of the business market, but this will depend on the product. This includes our dominant position in component manufacturing, and in cell phones we are first.
As a general electronics manufacturer, our main products are mobile phones, televisions and home appliances. We are also expanding into other areas such as B2B business with signage or other products. We have a wide portfolio of electronic products.
In this area, we have very strong capabilities and we are also number one in some products globally. Therefore, we try to further develop ourselves as a number one smart technology company. We would like to improve this, not just for a single product. We call it a “vertical device experience,” where people can experience connected features with their own products. Simply put, we focus on connectivity.

RPP: However, many brands are trying to reach customers through an ecosystem. How well has the Samsung ecosystem worked in Peru so far this year?
NS: Before, customers used to buy products based on their features. For example, if they wanted to watch television, they would buy a television. However, at present, all features are interconnected. This is something we have focused on. We have strong capabilities in this area and are one of the leading technology companies globally: our focus is on connectivity, products and personalization.
We want to improve the user experience of our products. We want people to be able to experience the connected features of our products. For example, a television is not just for watching television. We want people to be able to get the most out of their TV by using it for other things, like playing games or streaming content. We also focus on customization. We want people to be able to adapt our products to their own needs.
