WhatsApp continues to add tools that allow frictionless passage between platforms. In addition to the multi-device implementation and the constant updating of desktop or mobile apps, now the transition between ecosystems will be easier with the transfer of chats from Android to iOS

It has been Mark Zuckerberg himself, CEO of Meta , who has mentioned that this novelty will maintain the point-to-point encryption of WhatsApp. “We added to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. We launched the ability to switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now we’re also adding Android–>iPhone . ”

This new function will allow us to transfer all the data associated with conversations, audios and everything that we have entered on the platform, as long as we have a version no lower than iOS 15.5 or Android 5 on the phones to be associated.

WhatsApp between iOS and Android: what you should know

According to the WABetaInfo site, these are the conditions that you must consider for the transfer of chats from Android to iOS:

  • You must connect both devices to a power source. No need for a cable to migrate your data in this case: just connect your devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • The iPhone must be factory new or simply reset within the iPhone settings to use the Move to iOS app . Then open the Move to iOS app on your Android device and follow the app’s prompts.
  • Enter the same code on Android that is displayed on the target iPhone, go ahead and make sure to select WhatsApp within the Transfer Data screen.
  • Once these steps are done, hit START on the Android device and wait until all the data is migrated. You will be logged out of the Android phone once the data is fully migrated.
  • Tap NEXT to return to the Move to iOS app and finally continue transferring the data from the Android device to the iPhone and wait for the Move to iOS app to complete the process.
  • After activating the iOS device, install the latest version of WhatsApp Messenger from the App Store. Then sign in to WhatsApp using the same phone number you used on the old Android device, tap START and wait. After you log in to WhatsApp for iPhone, the chats and media in WhatsApp will finally appear.
