WhatsApp for Desktop launches public beta for macOS users

WhatsApp is launching a public beta for its desktop app. macOS and Windows users will now be able to apply for the program and test all the new tools that are coming.

According to WABetaInfo, beta testing is a way for WhatsApp to improve support for multi-devices and have people provide feedback to the development team.

When users apply to the program, they can become official beta testers and will automatically receive updates. So far, the latest version for public testers is 2.2133.1.

WABetaInfo notes that in this version, there is a new experience when recording audio messages. Users can not only see the sound waves while recording the message; they can also pause the recording and listen to the audio before sending it. The site claims that the tool was already in development for WhatsApp on iOS as well.

If you find a bug, beta testers can report it in “WhatsApp Desktop Settings”, “Contact Us” and send a screenshot for the development team to fix.

In addition, WhatsApp is also preparing to launch an iPad app. With multi-device compatibility, users will be able to stay connected to WhatsApp even without their cell phones around or when their cell phones run out of battery.
