WhatsApp  does not stop developing new functions to improve the proposal of its platform and, above all, to adapt to the needs of its users today. Because the instant messaging application owned by Meta seeks to be the favorite of people for any type of communication activity, it is already working on an option to create newsletters .

Although the existence of this tool was discovered last February, more details related to its operation have now been revealed. With the development of this feature, WhatsApp intends to rival alternative apps that offer email services to become the default for receiving newsletters directly on their platform.

WhatsApp wants to become the preferred app for newsletters

The WABetaInfo  portal reported that the 2.23.7.17 update of the Beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices already has the newsletter function, so users with access to this test edition already have the opportunity to explore its possibilities. These reports can be consulted from the States tab in the application and the simple way in which they can be created has even been revealed.

The newsletters are going to occupy the vast majority of the aforementioned tab, so it would not be unreasonable to think that their name would change in the future. In the window to create newsletters, users will be able to configure the basic details of said reports such as when a group or community is created, such as the name, a profile image and a description.

It is important to note that the name of the  newsletter may have a maximum of 100 characters while the description may include up to 500. WhatsApp tells us that this last section “is useful for followers”. With regard to the profile image, the creator may use their own photographs, emojis or images from the Internet. At the moment, it is not clear if the content displayed in these windows will only be based on images, text or something else.

New features coming to WhatsApp

In addition to newsletters, WhatsApp is also working on other projects for its platform such as editing text messages, the option to answer a video call using the 3D avatar, temporary voice messages, changing the window design with the tools to share media files, the replacement of phone numbers with usernames in group chats, and the introduction of group chats with an expiration date that will be deleted as soon as their life cycle is complete.

Other features include the ability to mute calls from unknown numbers and an option to transcribe voice notes to text. Although we do not know exactly when they will reach the standard version of WhatsApp , the ground is already being prepared since the Beta of the application
