WhatsApp is preparing a change for the visibility of the username and a new notification that will allow you to easily free up space on your cell phone.
WhatsApp , the Meta -owned instant messaging app, continues to develop new features and plan changes to some of those already implemented on its platform. Thanks to a new report, there is already knowledge of two specific innovations that are being tested in the Beta version of the app and that, most likely, are close to the service.
As detailed by WABetaInfo , WhatsApp has introduced both a general change to the visibility of the username and a notification that will invite you to activate temporary messages as an alternative to free up space on your cell phone or reduce its consumption when it is about to run out. These novelties correspond to the update 2.22.25.10 of the Beta version on Android .
WhatsApp will give more importance to the username
Regarding the first, WhatsApp has always offered the user the possibility of choosing a name when they create their account on the platform, with the option to change it whenever they please from their profile. However, this form of identification is irrelevant most of the time since people who do not have us added to their calendars with a nickname chosen by themselves see us with our phone number. The account name is only seen, in small form, when someone opens the profile.
Of course, the exception is group chats, where messages are signed with the phone number and the name chosen by the user for people who have not scheduled them in their contacts, although this appears small in comparison to the number anyway. .
Now, in the Beta , the messages of those who are not in your address book will appear signed by the name they chose for their profiles, with the phone number being the one that appears with reduced visibility. The change is focused on helping to recognize who sent a message now that the Communities function increases the possibility of interacting in groups with people who are not in our contact books.
WhatsApp will suggest the activation of temporary messages to free up space
The other novelty that the application prepares for its platform is related to the freeing up of storage space on the mobile device. If the user has little free space, a notification will appear inviting him to activate temporary messages, which are automatically deleted after a certain amount of time.
This new shortcut will take the user to the temporary chat screen within WhatsApp from where they can be activated for their respective accounts. In this way, in exchange for sacrificing the conversation histories with our contacts, we will be able to free up a few extra megabytes of storage in case we urgently need them.
