In July 2021, WhatsApp launched one of its most requested features by users: multi-device support . The feature allows users to access WhatsApp on up to four devices; however, you can only link the account to devices other than a mobile device .

Now, the world’s most widely used instant messaging app is working to expand multi-device support to smartphones .

According to the WABetaInfo portal , WhatsApp has been developing a function that will provide the possibility of using the same account on different phones.

As you can see in the screenshot, the section is called “Register device as a plugin” and it will appear when you try to open WhatsApp on a secondary mobile device.

At the moment, it seems that it will be necessary to point your primary device at the screen of the secondary device to link your WhatsApp account by scanning the QR code .

The feature of using WhatsApp on two smartphones is still under development and unfortunately the release date is unknown.
