WHY WILL ARMOR WARS BE A MOVIE? PRODUCER NATE MOORE ANSWERS

Last September it was announced that Armor Wars will not be a TV series.

A film, and will be released in theaters. The reasons for this choice are quite simple: budget issues.

Producer Nate Moore , currently on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever press tour , spoke to The Town podcast :

There were some great ideas that were coming up for that show, but to be honest they seemed too big. Our Disney+ series are great, and we love them, but the budgets aren’t the same as the movies, it’s no secret. And when we talk about a show that wants to show us all that cool armor, and Don Cheadle interacting with all that armor, and Tony Stark’s legacy, it becomes prohibitively expensive for a show.

With the resources of a film, Armor Wars will be able to adapt “some of the beautiful images” of the comic. We don’t know what the plot will be – it’s not certain that it will remain faithful to the comic saga of the same name – but it will certainly see James Rhodes ( Don Cheadle ) and Riri Williams ( Dominique Thorne ) confront the legacy of Tony Stark .

For the moment there is still no director, nor a release date. We will keep you posted.

The synopsis

For the moment we only have a small official description of the series:

A classic Marvel story in which Tony Stark’s greatest fear comes true: what happens when his technology falls into the wrong hands?

The screenwriter

The screenplay was entrusted to Yassir Lester , who has worked as a writer and / or story editor on numerous shows, including Girls, Earth to Ned and Black Monday .

The comic

Armor Wars is inspired (we don’t know how faithfully) by the narrative cycle of the same name byDavid Michelinie, Bob Layton, Mark D. BrightandBarry Windsor-Smith, published between 1987 and 1988. In the story,Tony Starkdiscovers that the armors of various super-villains – such asStilt Man, Crimson Dynamo, Scaraband others – are based on the technologies he developed forIron Man. Aware that his work has been stolen and used for nefarious purposes,Tonygoes on the hunt for the aforementioned criminals, eventually colliding withFirepower.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘s Tony sacrificed his life to save the universe in Avengers: Endgame , so he won’t appear in the series. The protagonist will be Rhodey / War Machine , but we don’t know other details about it.
