WILL OPPENHEIMER BE CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’S LONGEST FILM?

Oppenheimer could be the longest film of Christopher Nolan ‘s career , at least according to some recent rumors that have made their way onto the web in the last few hours.

As revealed byPuck, in fact, the duration of the film, focused on the creation of the atomic bomb by theManhattan Project, led byJ. Robert Oppenheimer( Cillian Murphy ), would be 3 hours. Recall that at the moment it is Interstellar that holds the record, with 2 hours and 49 minutes.

Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Rami Malek, Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz, David Dastmalchian, James D’Arcy, Michael Angarano, Matthias Schweighöfer  and Kenneth Branagh . And also Harrison Gilbertson, Emma Dumont, Guy Burnet , Danny Deferrari , Alex Wolff and Gary Oldman , who will appear in one scene.

Blunt will play Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer , wife of the scientist. Downey Jr. will play Lewis Strauss , the infamous head of the Atomic Energy Commission who initiated hearings to question Oppenheimer ‘s loyalty to the United States of America, and had his license revoked. Damon will play General Leslie Groves , director of the Manhattan Project . Florence Pugh will play Jean Tatlock , psychiatrist and Communist Party member with whom Oppenheimerhad an affair (he proposed marriage to her twice, but she refused).

The script was written by Christopher Nolan himself , who based himself on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin .

The true story

The biopic will tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist known for his contribution to the construction of the first atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project . It will be played by Cillian Murphy , finally starring in a film by Nolan after many collaborations with him. Universal Pictures , the English director’s new partner following the end of his relationship with Warner Bros., will release Oppenheimer on July 20, 2023 . Here is the official description of the project:
