Microsoft is readying the 22H2 update with changes to the Windows 11 interface and improvements to the functions of the operating system.
Windows 11 is about to be a year old among us, and Microsoft is already preparing a new important update.
Over time, the desktop operating system has gained resources, but it still has tremendous bugs compared to the remembered maturity of Windows 10. Now, the Redmond company plans to improve the proposal with a massive update, and everything points to September 20.
According to Windows Central, this date can change at the last minute; despite the fact that Microsoft’s efforts are focused on reaching September 20 at any cost.
Windows 11 22H2: what’s new
The folders arrive at the start menu. Finally we will be able to group apps based on themes and optimize the space of the Windows application launcher. In addition, we will have access to “all apps” in the upper right corner.
Drag to apps. For some reason, Microsoft disabled taskbar drag and drop in Windows 11, a feature that’s been with us for years and certainly comes in handy when working with full-screen apps. This will be fixed in 22H2.
“Suggested actions”. This new feature will present a small menu of options each time you copy a date or phone number, offering quick ways to create a calendar event or add a phone number to your contact list.
Greater control of Microsoft 365. In the configuration part, Windows 11 will include a tab with information about our subscription to Microsoft 365, the comprehensive subscription service. From there we can manage our OneDrive space, update our contracted packages and payment methods.
Tabs in the file explorer. Before, we could only use third-party apps like Groupy to unify folders into one view. This ends with 22H2, which already includes a tabbed view mode.
New TaskManager. Finally, Task Manager will have a new design in “dark mode” and will maintain the design lines of the operating system, contracting the interface while we change the screen size.
Family Safety is integrated into the OS. After years, we will be able to use the parental control suite directly from Windows and we will no longer have to go to the web to grant permissions to the minor accounts associated with our session.
LiveCaption. In this new version, Microsoft will include a subtitle system for the audiovisual content that we reproduce in the OS. This will be implemented for all fonts that we run on Windows.
Windows 11 22H2: Available for download
Specifically, the build responsible for these changes will be 22621, currently available in beta channels for testing. If you want to try these new options, you must go to the Windows Insider website and sign up for the program.
However, it is worth specifying that this version is under development, and problems and incompatibilities may arise as it is a preliminary version. The good thing is that we should not wait long, because the final version will be released on September 20.
