YouTube Music removes videos for free plan users

YouTube Music will become audio only and will no longer play video for users with free subscriptions.

If you are a free YouTube Music user , you can listen to songs in the background, browse songs, and randomly play music lists. However, if you want unlimited skipping, music videos and ad-free experience, the user will have to pay for  YouTube Premium .

YouTube Music will become an audio-only platform and videos for free listeners will no longer be playable.

This new change will initially apply to Canadian users starting November 3, along with the anticipated background playback feature for new YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium users.

Changes to YouTube Music

Changes made to YouTube Music’s free tier will take effect early next month, this update begins in Canada, but the company has yet to announce its “global expansion plans.”

Price sensitive markets like India , where it is also YouTube’s largest audience , may decide not to make any changes to the free plan.

YouTube Music is stiff competition in the music streaming service market, you can learn more about the changes on their help page .
