According to the latest reports , the company has decided to discontinue YouTube Originals to invest in other areas of greater interest.
YouTube has decided to make budget cuts to its original programming project. After six years of making premium television shows , the company is shutting it down for good.
According to a blog post, the video platform will continue to fund original programming for children and African-American content creators, and honor existing commitments.
However, the Alphabet -owned company will redirect investments to Shorts , its short video arm that directly rivals TikTok and Instagram Reels , in addition to its live shopping project.

Goodbye YouTube Originals
“With rapid growth comes new opportunities, and now our investments can have a greater impact on more creators when applied to other initiatives ,” Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s chief commercial officer, wrote in the blog post.
In addition to the completion of the project, YouTube Originals director Susan Daniels will leave the company on March 1. And to think that “Cobra Kai” was one of his emblematic productions.
